Paper that becomes something else entirely. Origami — the Japanese art of paper folding — is meditative in a way that is difficult to explain before you sit down with a single sheet and begin. One fold. Then another. A form emerges from what was flat.No cutting. No glue. Only paper and the precision of the crease.This workshop is suitable for adults attending alone and for parents and children attending together. Miku guides participants through a series of forms, from foundational folds to finished pieces worth keeping.

The fold
Begin with a single sheet. Miku introduces the foundational folds that underpin all origami — the valley, the mountain, the squash.

Build complexity
As confidence grows, the forms become more ambitious. Cranes, flowers, geometric structures. Each one a progression of the same basic movements.

Work at your pace
There is no race. The session moves at the pace of the group. Miku works with each participant individually.

Take them home
Leave with a collection of finished pieces — proof that patience and a square of paper are enough to make something from nothing.

Miku Kikuchi
Miku is a barista at Yugen and the origami workshop instructor. She brings the same attention to paper that she brings to an espresso — precise, unhurried, and specific about what each step is trying to achieve.
Her sessions are welcoming for first-timers and for families attending together. She moves through the room rather than lecturing from the front.

WHAT YOU TAKE HOME
A collection of finished forms
Everything you fold during the session is yours to keep. Cranes, modular geometric pieces, flowers — the exact pieces depend on the pace and direction of the group. The folding patterns are also shared, so you can continue at home.
No experience required. Suitable for parents and children attending together.

Is this suitable for children

Yes. There are two types of this workshop one for adult beginners and one for parents and children. The parents and children workshop is designed for parents and children to attend together. Miku works with participants of all ages and adjusts the pace accordingly.
Do I need any experience?

No experience is required. The session begins with foundational folds that form the basis of everything else. Miku guides every participant from the first crease.
What do I bring?

Nothing. All paper and materials are provided. Arrive a few minutes before the session starts.
Can I book a private group origami session?
